  • CNN House Cleaning - all part of plan

Chris Cuomo gone. Jeff Zucker gone.

Behind the scene is Liberty Media chairman (John Malone) who sits on the Discovery board of directors (who now owns CNN). Malone has said he wants CNN to be non-partisan and go back to roots and be journalist cables news station.

Malone demanded that Zucker be removed.

John Malone is not well known
He has more money invested in British media assets than Rupert Murdoch, at times he’s invested better than Warren Buffett and he also owns services and TV channels you’ve most likely used or watched; yet, the name John Malone still draws a sea of blank faces.

    From your article:

"In recent years, Malone, like fellow magnate Rupert Murdoch, has supported Donald Trump – an unsurprising move given that he is a former chairman of the Libertarian think tank, Cato Institute."

There is hope in this world.

CNN was on a unsustainable path. They were trying to out liberal MSNBC, and NBC (CBS, and ABC too). A Center-left path will be a path that few are trying now. Jim Acosta will have to get a new Schtick.

If CNN actually became non-partisan (which is hard to do), they would be a huge success. I think that the country is yearning for that. But mark my words, a truly independent and non-partisan news network will be labeled right wing, or conservative by the mainstream (which is leftwing).

The Discovery board wants to shed CNN. Malone is fighting to keep them, but only if they can restore their impartiality and become journalists again.

CNN used to be great at the news and investigative reporting. There may be hope, they are producing a show on the U.S. government UFO program to be aired this summer.

They are a financial turd _unless_ they shed their leftist slant. Malone knows this.

The discovery CEO evidently didn't get the memo.

The boss of CNN’s new parent company said on Friday the network was “the leader in news to the left

His communications team soon scrambled to walk back the frank admission, insisting he wasn’t talking about politics.
It will probably be telling who the next CEO of CNN is.

Here is the link to Malone on where he thinks CNN should be moving to.

I don’t see a chance that a 24 hr. News channel is totally non-partisan. I think they try to move back toward the Center with news contributors that are balanced both ways on opinion shows. Right now, it’s a clown show with leftist independents, token anti-Trump Republicans, and far left Democrats. There is no balance to opinion shows nor any straight reporting.

I agree it probably not going to happen, because CNN, Fox, and MsNBC are not really news shows, but opinion shows wrapped in reality TV. Why because that is what they think the consumer wants.

It can be done though, all you have to look at is non-US, 24-hour news channels do it.
