“I Will Do Everything I Can to Ensure Former President Never Again Gets Anywhere Near White House” — Lez Cheney

Gee, tell us something we haven't heard (OR SEEN) before you nasty hateful sow!!

I have neither a problem with the stance Congresswoman Cheney has taken, nor with leadership taking her post away.

I have a huge problem with the media coverage of said action, especially with so many other far more important and immediate issues to cover.

CNN and MSNBC combined to half the value of Viagra yesterday with their collective throbbing erection caused by their own coverage of this event, including CNN covering her speech live last night. It's frankly beyond embarrassing these days.

You saw a whole lot more of the coverage than I did (0 minutes), thankfully.

If she thinks Trump is full of s*** then no problem; most politicians do because he calls em on their BS (and they deserve it). But maybe she doesn't understand that 75-80 million people voted for him in the last election because he's their messenger, and not the other way around? I'm guessing she does (a lot of politicians do), and that's why she needs to go ahead and get a chair on CNN or MSNBC instead of the Republican Party. She probably hates many more people than just Trump too. Just watch...

Her disdain matches that of Cold's for his fellow Shockernetters (as you stated above)*, maybe...

It is quite amusing watching the left go to the defense of a Cheney...

Trump really did scramble their brains.

Pretty sure 75-80M don't see him as their messenger.

Yes, a number do, but I personally know a number of people that voted for him simply because they thought he would be less bad than Biden. They were never in love with the idea of Trump. Just like the however many that voted for Biden didn't actually like him, but felt he was less bad than Trump. Let's not exaggerate the actual pull of The Donald.

Personally, I think it's a mistake for the GOP to continue rallying around the guy. No, he wasn't all bad. He's also not the future of the party. Not if the GOP wants to actually stand a chance of being more than they are. They can definitely take some of his ideas/policies and reshape them a bit, but to continue to stand behind Trump like many do is poor strategy.

With all of that said, I don't give a crap how they choose to deal with Cheney. But the GOP also needs to stop trying to make everyone in their party believe the same things without question. Diversity of thought and belief isn't a bad thing.

You can take much of what I just said and flip it on the Dems as well. Though they seem to be a little more tolerant of some differing thoughts on their end of the spectrum, though we'll see how long that lasts. They both want everyone to basically believe the same thing on every issue at all times and that's just poor policy. There's a reason both parties continue to lose numbers and more people are seeing themselves as Independent/Other. Over 40% of the population doesn't claim either side of the duopoly and that will continue to grow as both parties continue down their current paths.

Most people in this country are much closer to each other in their ideas and beliefs than media and politicians want us to believe. But the two main parties make it seem like we're all lightyears apart because they don't actually want to solve problems and do what's best. They pretty much only want to "beat" the other which leads to more chaos and division within politics.

I agree with much of your comments although, the Biden agenda isn't very close to what I believe and what most Conservatives or Republicans believe, and I became appalled at how Kavenaugh was treated during his hearings. The courts went left for 50 years, and I disagreed with a lot of what they decided, and since the court has tilted Conservative toward my POV, the left has become unglued. Probably 40-50 percent of the Republican Party and some Conservative Dems too are supporters of varying amounts for Trump. Some people support him because they agree with his goals, and most policies, but dislike him as a person (i would fit mostly in this category).

Most of the diehard supporters like him because they view him as a "fighter" for his beliefs and policies ( I also to a degree like him for this although I could do without his tweets everday) and led Congressional cowards to fight also. But the main point is that Bush never fought for what he believed nor led the Congress to fight for what they believed. All Conservatives were cowards under Bush only worried about getting elected again.

There is a small group of people who are probably tilted far right who also are supporters. The problem with the media is that they paint all Conservatives in this camp. They are way wrong.

Here is the Trump policies or platform that he was elected for, and I have to say that I agree with most of them, and they are Populist/Conservative view points even though, I'm not sure how Conservative Trump really is. My final point is that the left fights and doesn't want to compromise and most Conservatives are nice and don't like to fight. They would rather just get along.

You have to scroll down to the bottom for the Trump promises.

Here are the Trump promises for those who don't want to look them up. While I don't like Trump, I can get on board with almost all of these policies. Most of them are quite moderate, but leave out much of the Special Interests.

In his contract with American voters, President Donald Trump promised to do the following:
Six measures to clean up the corruption and special interest collusion in Washington, DC:
              • FIRST, propose a constitutional amendment to impose term limits on all members of Congress.
              • SECOND, a hiring freeze on all federal employees to reduce the federal workforce through attrition (exempting military, public safety, and public health).
              • THIRD, a requirement that for every new federal regulation, two existing regulations must be eliminated.
              • FOURTH, a five-year ban on White House and Congressional officials becoming lobbyists after they leave government service.
              • FIFTH, a lifetime ban on White House officials lobbying on behalf of a foreign government.
              • SIXTH, a complete ban on foreign lobbyists raising money for American elections.

Seven actions to protect American workers:
              • FIRST, I will announce my intention to renegotiate NAFTA or withdraw from the deal under Article 2205.
              • SECOND, I will announce our withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
              • THIRD, I will direct the Secretary of the Treasury to label China a currency manipulator.
              • FOURTH, I will direct the Secretary of Commerce and U.S. Trade Representative to identify all foreign trading abuses that unfairly impact American workers and direct them to use every tool under American and international law to end those abuses immediately.
              • FIFTH, I will lift the restrictions on the production of $50 trillion dollars’ worth of job-producing American energy reserves, including shale, oil, natural gas and clean coal.
              • SIXTH, lift the Obama-Clinton roadblocks and allow vital energy infrastructure projects, like the Keystone Pipeline, to move forward.
              • SEVENTH, cancel billions in payments to U.N. climate change programs and use the money to fix America’s water and environmental infrastructure.

Five actions to restore security and the constitutional rule of law:
              • FIRST, cancel every unconstitutional executive action, memorandum and order issued by President Obama.
              • SECOND, begin the process of selecting a replacement for Justice Scalia from one of the 20 judges on my list, who will uphold and defend the U.S. Constitution.
              • THIRD, cancel all federal funding to sanctuary cities.
              • FOURTH, begin removing the more than two million criminal illegal immigrants from the country and cancel visas to foreign countries that won’t take them back.
              • FIFTH, suspend immigration from terror-prone regions where vetting cannot safely occur. All vetting of people coming into our country will be considered “extreme vetting.”[1]
              —President Donald Trump[2]
In the contract, Trump also said that he would "work with Congress to introduce the following broader legislative measures and fight for their passage within the first 100 days of my Administration":
              • Middle Class Tax Relief and Simplification Act
              • An economic plan designed to grow the economy 4% per year and create at least 25 million new jobs through massive tax reduction and simplification, in combination with trade reform, regulatory relief and lifting the restrictions on American energy. The largest tax reductions are for the middle class. A middle-class family with two children will get a 35% tax cut. The current number of brackets will be reduced from seven to three, and tax forms will likewise be greatly simplified. The business rate will be lowered from 35% to 15%, and the trillions of dollars of American corporate money overseas can now be brought back at a 10% rate.
              • End the Offshoring Act
              • Establishes tariffs to discourage companies from laying off their workers in order to relocate in other countries and ship their products back to the U.S. tax-free.
              • American Energy and Infrastructure Act
              • Leverages public-private partnerships, and private investments through tax incentives, to spur $1 trillion in infrastructure investment over ten years. It is revenue neutral.
              • School Choice and Education Opportunity Act
              • Redirects education dollars to give parents the right to send their kid to the public, private, charter, magnet, religious or home school of their choice. Ends Common Core and brings education supervision to local communities. It expands vocational and technical education, and makes two- and four year college more affordable.
              • Repeal and Replace Obamacare Act
              • Fully repeals Obamacare and replaces it with Health Savings Accounts, the ability to purchase health insurance across state lines and lets states manage Medicaid funds. Reforms will also include cutting the red tape at the FDA: there are over 4,000 drugs awaiting approval, and we especially want to speed the approval of life-saving medications.
              • Affordable Childcare and Eldercare Act
              • Allows Americans to deduct childcare and eldercare from their taxes, incentivizes employers to provide on-site childcare services and creates tax-free dependent care savings accounts for both young and elderly dependents, with matching contributions for low-income families.
              • End Illegal Immigration Act
              • Fully-funds the construction of a wall on our southern border with the full understanding that the country of Mexico will be reimbursing the United States for the full cost of such wall; establishes a two-year mandatory minimum federal prison sentence for illegally re-entering the U.S. after a previous deportation, and a five-year mandatory minimum federal prison sentence for illegally re-entering for those with felony convictions, multiple misdemeanor convictions or two or more prior deportations; also reforms visa rules to enhance penalties for overstaying and to ensure open jobs are offered to American workers first.
              • Restoring Community Safety Act
              • Reduces surging crime, drugs and violence by creating a task force on violent crime and increasing funding for programs that train and assist local police; increases resources for federal law enforcement agencies and federal prosecutors to dismantle criminal gangs and put violent offenders behind bars.
              • Restoring National Security Act
              • Rebuilds our military by eliminating the defense sequester and expanding military investment; provides veterans with the ability to receive public VA treatment or attend the private doctor of their choice; protects our vital infrastructure from cyber-attack; establishes new screening procedures for immigration to ensure those who are admitted to our country support our people and our values.
              • Clean Up Corruption in Washington Act
              • Enacts new ethics reforms to drain the swamp and reduce the corrupting influence of special interests on our politics.[1]
              —President Donald Trump[2]

I know almost nothing about his, but if she called out Trump's behavior, good for her!

The Republican party must be extricated from Trump if it is to survive. Otherwise the Democratic party will become the majority from here on out. And if it does, it will become more moderate. Extremism is just reactionary.

Her ouster had little to do with Trump, although the MSM would want you to believe it does.

Anyone in the Republican party who is against nearly every agenda the party is trying to achieve should not be in a leadership role...period...end of story. Nothing to do with Trump.

Would you want a head coach leading your team who didn't believe in the overall philosophy of the team?

Put Tim Scott or maybe Ron DeSantis with most of those promises (you can call them MAGA or get another name) above and I think you'll find a lot of support. Maybe more than before. However, the problem could be that there may be approximately 20%, (maybe more/maybe less) who only voted because for Trump because he's Trump. I don't understand it, nor do I know anyone like that (I guess because they think he will take on anyone).

Liz Cheney appears to be putting herself into a position to run for President in 2024 by taking a wing of the party that way. She is definitely divisive or tribal within the party which is what many want, including Biden and the leftist Democrats who want to win. The moderate leftists seem ok with going that way if their party can continue in power.

The Republican party needs to be exercised of it's penchant for pandering to the lowest common denominator w/ respect to rational thinking. I used to join in on all the fun, all the talks of Civil War, etc. But Trump proved to me just how fragile the party's collective grasp on reality is. It's not that they can't believe in reality, it's that they don't want to. And Trump led from their skewed perspective. The rest of us who voted for him just wanted change. We had no idea the Trojan Horse of insanity that was being voted in along with.

You’re not the only left winger who likes her. There are a lot of democrats who found their next best friend. I really don’t care about her ambitions anymore than I care about Trump. She pretty much attracts support from Establishment Big money corporate Special Interest Group Republican types and Democrats who like a divided opponent so they can continue their spending power in Washington.
