It started with "Stand down and stand by". That became the motto of the Proud Boys, who showed up in force at the "protest". Trump told the "protesters" to march on the Capitol and be strong because the weak never win anything. The "protesters" filmed themselves (and put it on social media) chanting "Kill Mike Pence". Up until that moment there had never been a person more devoted to Trump.
I've been on the wrong side of the political thinking in this forum. If I'm on the wrong side of those who support a President who encouraged supporters to assemble in D.C., march on the Capitol and "be strong", and then those supporters killed Capitol police in order to invade the Capitol? And they were chanting "Kill Mike Pence"?
I'm starting to think that my attitude that Trump should never have been President is looking pretty good. I'm looking forward to seeing who out here has the courage to challenge my post and support a President who incited an insurrection and orchestrated a terrorist invasion of our Capitol because he lost an election.
You're not going to find much support here. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and hoping for a different result. Which is why a lot of your friends and neighbors in Wichita will enthusiastically support the next tinpot dictator wanna-be, so long as they are Republican. Being a true believer will do that to you.

Pompeo for president 2024.
I think most people that voted for Trump were voting against authoritarianism.
Absolutely I do. But the right is every bit as authoritarian. They only disagree with what parts or how to wield their authority over people.
Exactly. They voted against the greatest perceived threat, not for a dictator. People disagree as to the threat level, but to suggest that they WANT a dictator is just left wing fantasy.

Neither side wants a dictator. But they do seem to want government to tell everyone what to do and how to live. Again, they just disagree on what parts of that they wish to enforce on others.
One day, I'd like to see us give freedom a chance. But that's just a dream

You speak truth to power. We have opposite perspectives, but we agree on many things. After OrangeMan, I am very concerned someone like Ocasio-Cortez might turn us into Venezuela someday. OrangeMan wrote the book and paved the way for future wanna-be dictators in our country.

I have a hard time believing that any member of "the squad" gains any real power. Maybe that's me being naïve, but regardless of how the parties seem to move to extremes, I still believe that most of us don't actually live there. But with the two party domination we have, people pick a team and then have little to no control over where they go with it.
If we were all honest and would get away from the tribal aspect of my side good, your side bad, we'd find a lot more common ground. Sure, there would be differences, but they're not near as extreme as the media wishes us to believe, or as we portray on here because we focus on such a small array of topics.

Maduro was a bus driver who became the head of his union and a darling of the socialists there. He successfully parlayed that into the presidency of a failed socialist republic. What he was able to do over there would be more difficult to replicate here, but I have no doubt that it could be done and to me the suspects range from #TedtheTraitor and #Hee-Hawley to any member of the squad, including the squeaky-voiced socialist. Given where she's from, if she develops political survivability, she could be around for 30 years, with a lot of chance to learn how to manipulate our institutions and bend them to her will.
Think of her as a Chris Kobach clone, only smarter out of the box. Voters in Kansas gave him a whole lot more political oxygen than he should have had. Occasio is just as brash and outrageous with a little more self-awareness so that she doesn't fall into the traps he fell into.
If Kobach had been a little more restrained about striking voters, he could have geen a governor or a senator from Kansas.

Sub, You are extremely general and lack specifics so I don't think that anyone can respond to your statements. I guess that is so no one can pin you down on your true beliefs maybe.

Well if one isn't held to any standard, then they can argue both sides without ever being right or wrong. They just straddle the fence but still haven't made a point.

Straddling a fence indicates that there are only two sides.
