You don't need 10 paragraphs to know this fiasco is wrong. Nobody cares that the GM deleted his tweet, which I'd bet he was told to do (more of the problem). The problem with lawyers is that they make easy things difficult.
When the NBA tried to "fix" the tweet, they were on the wrong side of the argument, period. Everyone that's tried to defend Adam Silver or any NBAer since then is on the wrong side of the argument. Most of us realize that. Those that don't, or want to continue to argue semantics are on the wrong side. That's it. Nothing difficult, nothing crazy.
We get that it's about money. I don't care who you are, if you get into bed with the wrong people, sometimes you get burned. If you're going to try and spin it, you're still wrong. The fact that the tweet was deleted might mean the GM wanted his job more than kowtow to China, I don't know and you don't either. But while Daryl has kept quiet, LBJ doubled down and called him out. That's his free speech, but it's also mine to call him an idiot, and yours to call me one.
I'd wager a lot more Americans would side with me, because it's easy to see right and wrong. As Mrs. Black said in John Grisham's The Rainmaker "It takes two pages to say all that?"
My problem with what other people have said is the suggestion that this is a situation where tons of people who protest in the US are now out here supporting China and opposed to HK. I absolutely disagree with that argument. From what I have seen, essentially every normal person who has been supporting BLM or Kaepernick or whatever, they are also supporting HK.
I don't know what you mean by "a lot more Americans would side" with you. I don't disagree with you on the underlying HK issue, it doesn't seem. I just think your opinions on why LeBron is wrong are unfounded. The only thing more frustrating than someone who disagrees with you is someone who agrees with you but for the wrong reasons.

I don't agree with your take on either of those points. Daryl is not any more trustworthy on foreign affairs than LeBron unless you point to the warrants behind what Daryl is saying or you can suggest Daryl has unique experience/education on the subject. The second point is that I think it's crazy not to acknowledge that it was a "tough week." I get that my life is pretty good and I've got uptown problems, but some days I go home and say "that was a rough day." The NBA was in a tough spot this week and they had to decide between losing billions of dollars or taking a morally righteous stance. Many of us think they took the wrong approach, but it is still a difficult situation to be in.

The only reason Daryl Morey has shut down his tweets is because his boss on the Houston basketball team told he should if he wants to continue as GM of the Houston Rockets.

Maybe you don't understand where many in this are thread coming from, or either you just don't want to go there on the topic?

At least we know where LeBron James heart really lies. He is all for fighting injustice in the world if there is something in it for him. But if it going to cost him millions with his China deals - that is just a little to far.

... not to mention preaching about twitter etiquette because, you know, people's feelings and everything. "Don't be like those bad Trump followers."
All he did was demonstrate that socialist's can every bit as greedy as capitalist's (maybe more?), and, yes, dumber too.
