The shocks to the market will resolve. The future of the commuting world is electric.

    • The future of commuting should be whatever gets a person from A to B as efficient, cost effective and safely as deemed by the person travelling from point A to point B.

And FYI, at this time, for most of the country, when you say electric car, replace electric with coal powered.

      • Problem with Electric cars is in the production of their batteries have a carbon footprint ultimately is larger than conventional vehicles. But it is the thought that counts.

Once in operation, electric cars certainly reduce your carbon footprint, but making the lithium-ion batteries could emit 74% more CO2 than for conventional cars.

Too bad you don't get to pick "what should be" in the marketplace. The consumer is voting with their dollars. Electric/clean energy is coming. Continue to cling to your coal biscuits if you want. Maybe they'll eventually have a place on your energy bill where you can choose coal. They have been giving consumers a choice in other parts of the country; two energy sources, one cleaner and one not so clean... they're choosing the cleaner, more expensive option.

Yeah, it'll get better. And I said nothing of the "carbon footprint". I spoke specifically of lower air pollution in the cities where we live.

            • Someday everything will be electric and we'll get our peace and quiet back. Noise pollution is really becoming a problem in cities. It's getting nasty in downtown Wichita as well. ***** clowns w/ their misfiring (on purpose) rice cars. And the choppers... it's time to start enforcing the muffler codes.

Clinging? Just telling what is now. If you are driving an electric car, chances are the energy is coming from a dirty coal plant.

People can choose whatever car they want. But forcing poor people to pay higher energy costs to make a living, chasing a green energy unicorn is not compassion.

Nobody buying an electric car is chasing a unicorn. They're just fun to drive, quiet, FAST, you never visit a gas station, and they're very clean!

Toss away that Fox News script you just read from. Clip the strings from your puppeteers and open your eyes. This is the future.

And when you take a deep refreshing breath on one of your evening walks, tip your hat my way as I drive by virtually silent and stinkless.

And gasoline prices were artificially too cheap relative to the negative externalities of producing it... IMO.

Yes, we wouldn't want poor people's paycheck to go farther. The planet is dying. Better to jack that expense up artificially so that muh global warming ceases on the backs of them.

                        Keep going

That was taken right out of the Big Oil Bible of B.S.

And you don't care about poor people, that is obvious by your commentary in the Covid thread.

                          • Electric cars........nice concept in the lab, won't work long term. Just wont. Where are you going to get the batteries and where are you going to throw them away?

Basic economics; you don't plunder the earth without paying an "appropriate" cost for doing so.

Bro... electric vehicles will be EVERYWHERE within 10-20 years. End of story. There's no delusion in the world that will stop the pain if you are positioned against that trend.
