Cop got off duty. Shot and killed a guy she thought was in her appartment. Just happens that she was on the wrong floor.

The mainstream media is having an orgasm as they found another story where a white person shot a black person.

TLDR version: White female cop comes home to her apartment only it wasn't her apartment as she mistakenly entered another. Upon discovering a "strange man" inside what she thought was her apartment she blasted his ass. She's charged with manslaughter.

But that's not enough in 2018. Now we'll talk for years about what this officer would have done had the man in "her apartment" been white.

Of course everybody will step right over the glaring fact that 75% of her arrests are likely involving black males and she's understandably conditioned to react with greater alarm when encountering an African American in a potentially hostile situation. That's not germane to the story.

Where's Bill Cosby when we need him. Oh that's right...

I think the charges fit the unfortunate situation. The officer made a grave error.

Now if we find out she had a previous relationship with the deceased, then it's a Murder 1 trial obviously.

Not sure why - out of all the shooting stories we've had - the media needs to make this one into a race bait story. No one of any mental stability in this country is defending this lady, so why do we need to divide over race here? A reasonable person does not hear about this story, and then ponder race implications.

There's a power structure in this country that desires to fan the flame of race war. Color blindness will never happen because one side uses it to wield power.

Yeah I've followed this a little too. No doubt she made a grave error but there are some headscratching questions. OK on the floor error, but your key didn't work? It was open and alarms in your head don't go off? Couldn't have been decorated the same, first site had to tell you something.....I don't know. I suppose he could have been right there and she pulled her gun (she just got off work). It's tragic regardless. A man is dead. A woman is likely going to jail for a long long time, maybe her life. All tragic.

What bothers me in the way it's covered is how many media reports I've seen that proclaim "Cop who kills unarmed black man has history of shootings". Yeah, while on duty a man that had committed a crime attacked her and tried to take her gun. He got shot. Anyone have a problem with that? No. Have ANYTHING to do with this? No. Race baiting and cop brutality message trying to be furthered? You bet. Fake News.

              I'll play devil's advocate.

She just got off a long shift where she'd had a couple nasty arrests, she had not been getting much sleep lately, she gets off on the wrong floor after dozing off in the elevator, she finds that her door is unlocked (adrenaline surges), she enters a dark apartment with gun drawn and quickly comes face to face with a strange man that's yelling at her. *bang*

              The End

I know the lightning rod we have in the White House coined the term "fake news", but hell if he doesn't have a point at times. I too read the story about the circumstances surrounding the prior shooting she was involved with and I left thinking about how terrifically dishonest the media has become. It's baffling and amazing. The prior shooting was as justifiable as they come. Just like this current situation is the polar opposite. Is it really that hard to decipher, intellectually? I say all of this even as someone who is not a fan of what law enforcement has become in the modern era. I'm a long ways from pro-cop.

The media as a whole is legitimately an antagonist against peaceful, logical discourse. Yes, it is true, in a certain context the media is an enemy of the people. That's not hyperbole.

We live in a time when honor and virtue are seen as career hindrances. I like to call it the Kardashian Era.

It's all part of the Great Decline of the greatest superpower the world's ever known. We had our time; it was a great run. We will eventually be replaced by a more disciplined and hungry nation, after which a certain amount of time passes, they too will enjoy the same fate. The cycle has gone on since the beginning of man.

My money is on drunk. Done damn near the same thing, only didn't shoot anyone. This is a drunk cop shoots citizen story. I haven't seen a race baiting angle.

If she was drunk while carrying her gun... that would be a really big no-no.

It is very easy to walk into the wrong apartment, especially if it's one of those big, upper-scale, new-fangled, loft jobbies. Many people keep their doors unlocked because the buildings are very secure. In a large complex you will have many floors that look exactly the same.

The wagon-circling that takes place in situations like this can sometimes take on a bit of an organized crime look.

That was my first thought too, but shouldn’t they be searching the scene of the crime for evidence?

For evidence someone was relaxing in their own home and was shot by an intruder? Lady cop knew right away what happened, so it’s not like there was a lack of clarity of the situation when other officers responded.

No. For evidence as to whether or not the incident went down as described by the suspect. Was it really an accident (manslaughter), or was he targeted (murder)?

doesn’t look good - there is no need here to smear an innocent man just to make porky look good. i’m not much of a supporter of the police after being harassed myself on numerous cases walking around my neighborhood (old town).. it’s none of their damn business where i’m going.

in this case the law is gonna do anything possible to discredit mr jean and somehow justify this ***** for what she did. i don’t see color of skin being an issue in this case, but rather cops think they can do anything at anytime and be justified. it’ll be interesting to see if the uncle toms in the district attorneys office have a set of cajones to do the right thing here.

wonder what this case would look like if he was lucky enough to twist her cap back?

so many want to tote the line and not buck the trend of mistreatment and lies. uncle toms meant as those in power (faith johnson, ulysha hall) haven't said much of anything and have the appearance of going with the status quo (good ole boy system, blue shield) instead of standing up to the establishment and doing what is right for the people that they were voted in to represent. they have time to do it, and i understand that the texas rangers are in control of the "investigation", but the transparency so far has lacked on all levels. i'm sure that the da's office is concerned that if wrongdoing is found on the intruder's behalf that all of the convictions that went along with her work will have the opportunity to be overturned. maybe its a money and resource thing.. maybe not. my concerns are:

                      1) why hasn't there been a search warrant executed on the intruder's residence?
                      2) other than an attempt to smear, why was one completed on the victim's residence? a crime scene should give detectives a bit of latitude on what they can look for without a warrant.
                      3) why was the intruder allowed to go home after the shooting? her home could have yielded evidence..
                      4) i've lived in high-rise condo buildings and have worked 18hr days before and never once did i come close to someone else's house. the red doormat had to be the first clue.
                      5) hopefully the neighbors aren't scared into silence about what they saw and heard.

one more thing.. you think dallas is silly, look at the mandalay bay shooting in vegas.. secret entrances and exits for high rollers.. responding officers were clueless as to what was going on.. casinos/hotels have secret back door lines to the police department instead of using 911. talk about a police department that acts as the casino's bit.ch for the almighty dollar. look at the facts and the record.. the police don't want to solve that crime, they want to minimize the impact on the hotels/casinos and keep the tourism gravy train flowing.

Am I the only one that read this article and noticed that the only person insinuating that the cops are on a smear campaign is the lawyer for the victim’s family?

If they are trying to “discredit” the victim, then shame on them, but that is just being insinuates per the article. Is there any evidence that the police department is actually trying to do that?

Admittadly, I’m not well versed on this case, but based on what I do know, the cop should go to jail for manslaughter, minimally. Everything else I’ve seen shows that this is being investigated. What evidence is there that she targeted a man due to his race or that the police are trying to cover for the officer?

This development is bipartisan in nature. Some may love him, and some may loathe him, but here is Ben Shapiro on the search warrant executed on the victim’s residence. It’s a pretty solid take.
