I rediscovered Jason's after a 10 yr hiatus. I was pleasantly surprised to see their quality/value keeping up with the times.

I’ll chime in with my most unique and authentically San Diego spots.

      Fish Tacos at Oscar’s

Authentic Mexican tacos at Tacos el gordo (be prepared to wait but worth it). Also not a great neighborhood and close to TJ.

California Burrito at La Perla in pacific beach

pizza and excellent micro brews at pizza port solana beach

micro brews at modern times (my favorite amongst many breweries here)

      Fried chicken at Crack Shack

Shrimp taquitos and butter cake (and everything else) at Nicks Del Mar

Upscale dining at Eddie V’s, Addison, Javier’s, Born and Raised, Cowboy Star (awesome place), Trulucks, Coasterra (one of the best views).

Views and ambiance at Jakes Del Mar. You might see some of the famous types here (I’ve seen Joe Montana, Steve Mariucci, Aaron Rodgers, and Steve Perry here).

If your here during Del Mar race season hit up happy hour at Brigantine or Monarch (people watching is off the charts with lots of cougars).

A lot of people rave about the burgers at Hodads and they are good. I prefer Crazee Burger or Rocky’s Crown Pub for burgers.

      Sidecar Donuts

      Cookies at Batch and Box

Din Tai Fung (fancy dim sum place)

Ok. Need your help! I had emergency kidney surgery Sunday morning at Wesley Woodlawn. I’m starting to finally feel better. We are staying on campus. Somebody suggest something nearby for dinner now that I am up for going out a bit. Wife got takeout Mediterranean from Maurice’s for lunch and it was great. Don’t really remember what I had yesterday. Go!

Thanks. It was going pretty good until I got dressed. Snagged a string attached to a stent in my ureter, and partially pulled it. Things went south fast.

I had kidney stone surgery (x 2) many moons ago and know the “string” you’re referring to. Yipes stripes beechnut gum!

Has anyone tried Andaluz over in twin lakes area? The menu looks pretty spectacular.

My daughter used to live in Valley Center. They loved them some Big Larry's.

Not sure about the Octopus Tostada (probably good) but they do have some interesting selections.

I heard that Metro Grill is opening a new restaurant on East Douglas?

Does Metro Grill have a west side location?

                            Do they serve alcoholic beverages?
