  • KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KWCH) - Top doctors in the Kansas City region are giving a stern warning that Kansas City can become the epicenter of the current COVID-19 surge.

Hospital beds are full, transfers are being turned away, and doctors fear it will only get worse as the Delta variant spreads.

Wichita hospitals worry that they too will see the same thing.

Currently, more than 70 people are in Wichita hospitals with COVID-19. That number is manageable for them, but other infectious diseases have spread since mask mandates ended, playing a big role in overwhelming their systems.
“We’re past the tipping point. We’re in trouble,” Dr. Steve Stites at the University of Kansas Health System said.

With masks in the past, other infectious diseases like influenza and RSV also spread throughout Kansas communities, using up beds that could be filled by COVID patients.

“We have a lot of medical patients here who are sick,” Stites said. “We can’t turn that off, that’ll keep coming. So another reason, going ack to those infection control guidelines will help shut off some of that flow of patients as well and open up more beds.”

For the first time since last fall, they’re out of beds, turning away transfers, and creating makeshift rooms for patients.
They're saying the current surge should crest by September. I hope that's true but I'm dubious.

Ya but by then the Epsilon, Zeta, and Eta variants will have taken over and be on the verge of killing us all. I sure hope the dems have enough variants to get them through to the mid-term elections.

You better hope we don't get a bunch more variants of concern before this pandemic dies out. Our vaccine immunity has already been comprised. If it gets to where ICU's are filling w/ vaccinated people... it's over bro. This pandemic will go for a grand finale human harvest and all of you "live and let live" folks, will be eating SARS crow.

It’s almost like you want that to happen.

Provide any evidence of this? You been watching too many movies and CNN. No need to worry. Live your life and enjoy the time you have. Don't let fear and misinformation control you. Be smarter than that.

Very people in the hospital who haven’t been vaccinated. Fewer people in the hospital than the height of the pre-vaccine pandemic. Much lower numbers have died from it, and almost all of deaths are unvaccinated.

                • Migrants at the border are refusing the vaccine. WOW, and they’re still allowed in? They are already just like citizens.

97% of hospitalized patients are unvaccinated. Chances of being vaccinated and then being hospitalized with Covid are about 1 in 25k.

                          • The official advice is to open a window to increase ventilation and slow the spread of Covid, but now there could be an added incentive – the virus may also be spread by flatulence. Ministers have privately pointed to evidence that Covid could be spread by people breaking wind in confined spaces such as lavatories. One said they had read "credible-looking stuff on it" from other countries, although government scientists are yet to produce a paper on the matter. The source said there had been evi

That’s an interesting question with arguments on both sides. There are people that loathe Trump or would not vote for him resting in certain demographics that absolutely won’t take the vaccine regardless of who is President. On the other hand this theme that the media keeps pushing that anti vaxers are largely Trump supporters who would then all be getting the vax if Trump was still in office kind of backs up their theory, which I find irresponsible.

Trump got the vax, Trump endorsed the vax while he was president and Trump helped speed up the process. That is why the matter really isn’t political at this point. People who don’t get the vax by and large don’t trust the system more than they do trust it whomever is in charge…that makes for some strange bedfellows in the anti vax crowd-lockdown enthusiasts and “ride it out” Darwinists forming a weird coalition before breaking sharply in opposite directions.

So what sayeth you, great Kung Wu?
