There are few people not being affected directly or indirectly by things going on in the world today. From the fires in Texas (that have destroyed 2 of my families houses) to the flooding and storms that ravaged the East Coast (and took the life of a friend of mine working to help a neighbor), to a couple friends of mine in Wichita dealing with health and a couple with financial hardships due to young ones with cancer.
As we enter another season of Shocker sports, let us not forget how lucky each of us are, and not let the pettyness of sport ruin what should be a positive reprieve from the seemingly never ending barrage of life.
